Basementology Basement Finishing

Once you begin gathering idea's for your lower level, its virtually impossible to stop thinking about the final product.

Whenever friends visit your home, you think about how fun it would be to be hanging out and playing games in your lower level while you tend the bar and keep an eye on the game that you're watching on your 75" big screen TV.

If you have children like we do, then you can easily imagine them playing in the lower level where they can be loud, imaginative and creative without destroying the main floor or your sanity.

  • Basement Mono post  - Steel Mono posts are necessary but unappealing, however with a little planning you can turn them into a design asset. Highlight art, add lighting to the middle of a room, anchor a built in or wet bar.
  • Guest Bedroom- What an awesome feeling to have friends or family to visit. Offering them the ability to relax and enjoy a great nights sleep. This lower level idea is a must.
  • Built-in bookcase & Entertainment center- Nothing says space saving and luxury design like a home library or movie room.
  • Art Niche- if its a sport room or an fine art exhibit, wall niches provide an elegant and recessed wall area holding favorite décor items.
  • A Door Bell - If you're like me, and like your movies LOUD....lets make sure you hear that pizza delivery.
  • Trimmed Basement Windows - Lets face it, its difficult to having plain Jane basement windows deterring from your masterpiece. Why not enhance them with fluted column's or crowned top sills?

  • Hobby rooms - everyone has a hobby or should. From scrapbooking to ammunition reloading, having your own personal work area provides a much needed escape.
  • Personal study or Library - Its been said successful people spend a lot of their time reading.
  • Home schooling teaching rooms - This is my personal favorite. Investing in your child's education, while investing in your real estate.
